About Cornerstone

Literacy Is the Cornerstone of Education

A cornerstone is the first stone laid in a building. Every other stone is measured from it. Cornerstone Learning believes literacy is the cornerstone of a child’s education.

The Cornerstone Story

Strong reading foundations support confidence, independence, academic achievement, opportunity, and lifelong learning. Cornerstone Learning was founded to help children who need specialized literacy support receive individualized, evidence-based instruction without requiring families to navigate another commute.

Today, Cornerstone provides remote 1:1 literacy instruction, dyslexia-focused reading intervention, Wilson Reading System-based instruction, reading assessments, progress monitoring, and clear family communication. Tomorrow, the vision expands to a trusted network of educators, school partnerships, and broader educational opportunity.

Mission

Cornerstone Learning provides individualized, evidence-based literacy instruction that helps children develop the skills, confidence, and foundation they need to succeed in school and beyond.

Vision

To build a trusted remote literacy organization that develops confident readers, empowers exceptional educators, partners with families and schools, and expands educational opportunity from Boston to Cape Verde.

Remote-First Philosophy

Cornerstone Learning is a remote-first literacy organization, an educational institution without walls. Remote delivery is designed to make specialized instruction more accessible, reduce transportation burdens, and support consistency across changing schedules and locations.

We do not claim remote learning is always superior. We position it as flexible, accessible, and thoughtfully designed for learners who need focused literacy support.

Long-Term Vision: Cape Verde

Our long-term vision includes expanding literacy access, supporting educators, and creating educational opportunity in Cape Verde, bringing the mission back to a place deeply connected to our family’s story. This is a future initiative, not a current program.
